Each week, print out the  Homework Tracker. This form does NOT need to be printed or turned in for credit during weeks that we are doing only READING homework. PLEASE right your child’s name at the top of this tracker.

Your child is required to read 20 minutes every night. This could include Raz Kids, reading books at home or our fluency passage. Here is the link to your child’s Fluency Recording sheet. Your child has a number click on your child’s number (at the bottom of the spreadsheet) to record their reading. Your child should know their number.

Each week, print your student’s assigned Word Sort by clicking on the appropriate link below.  Use the Word Sort for the following activities:
  • Monday: Print, cut, and sort your words with an adult and explain this week’s rule. Sort each word under the correct guide word. Some guide words have a C or V combination on them – C stands for consonant and V stands for vowel. PLEASE write the sort on the back of the homework tracker. 
  • Tuesday: Practice the sort and write it on the homework tracker. 
  • Wednesday: Blind Sort (Lay down the guide words and then read the rest of the words aloud without showing them to your child. Your child must indicate where the word goes without seeing it.
  • Thursday: Speed Sort: Time your students three times doing their word sorts and record it on the homework tracker.

  • Study the following “High Frequency Words” using any method you wish in order to prepare for the weekly spelling test on Fridays. There are no review words.
  • There is a list of recommended spelling study activities that you can access BY CLICKING HERE for Spelling Word Activities, but, again, you may use any method you wish.

  • Complete the My Math homework pages one each day and the last two on Thursday. Do all the ODD problems. Get on and do Xtra Math practice. Pins are now under homework- usernames and passwords
  • Please also practice math facts regularly by utilizing any of the math activities that you can access BY CLICKING HERE for Math Activities.  These math facts activities do not need to be documented for homework credit – they are simply a resource to help you practice math fluency on a regular basis. 

Moon Journal

Hey I forgot to put on Friday’s homework post that I would like their moon journals turned in tomorrow, November 6th, along with all their other homework. Please have your child return their fluency passages. I have not been getting all of them back. Thanks!!

Party Fun!!

Positive Me Week /Reminders

Next week we are having our Postive Me week!

Pg20i_colorMon. 26th: “Scare Away Bad Health”- Wear crazy socks.


Tues. 27th: “Scare Away Drugs”- Wear red. (SCHOOL UNIFORM RED SHIRT) Uniform compliant pants.

Wed. 28th: “Scare Away Bullies”- Show team spirit by wearing a team jersey or t-shirt. Uniform compliant pants

Thur. 29th: “Scare Away Negativity”- Wear favorite accessory such as a bracelet, necklace, pin, hair bow, belt, tie, Please no hats.

Fri.30th: “Scare Up Some Fun”- Wear a costume or wear orange.

Reminders:
*I forgot to give out their blue folders on Thursday because they had library. But I have all of their math homework and new fluency ready to go home on Monday. 

*Book orders are due by October 28th. These are great for Christmas gifts we will also have a book order in November as well if you forget. 

*If your child does not have a black sock for an eraser please send them to school with one next week. Lots of students do not have one and lots of tissues are being used daily as erasers instead of a sock. Any sock with work, black is best. Thanks!

Reminders

1. Please have your child turn in their reading minutes for the week on Thursday October 22nd with it being the end of the quarter. 

2. Don’t forget to sign the Halloween party permission slip on my blog and donate 1-2$ to the office. The Halloween party is October 30th at 11:30am until 12:50pm.

3. Next week we will have a full homework week. I will be sending home homework on Thursday and will post the homework on my blog as well. 

4. NO SCHOOL this FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23RD due to being an end-of-quarter teacher work-day.
