Reminders

1. NO SCHOOL MONDAY February 20th in observance of Presidents day!

2. Don’t forget to go on and record your child’s reading minutes for our Library Reading Challenge. Many students are becoming sad when I don’t pass them out an airplane to color to hang up around the school. They ask why they don’t get one and I have to remind them to tell you parents to go on and record their minutes. Get in the habit of doing this weekly! Thanks!

Here is the link to your child’s phonics fluency stories Level 2 Anita Archer Fluency. Please print Lesson 5 and have your child read it each night. Time them for 1 minute and have them read as many words as they can. If they get to the bottom they will go back to the top and continue reading until the 1 minute is up.

-PLEASE make sure your child is bringing their blue folder everyday to school. There are passages in them that are another resource for reading I am asking that you have them read it EVERY NIGHT.

They need to be timed for 1 minute and then using their retell ropes (in back of sheet protector) to tell you as much as they can about the story.
Here are homework-fluency-instructions for help.

Stores are now stocked and ready for Valentine’s Day.  To help you properly prepare for our in class celebrations, here are the Quest guidelines in regards to Valentine’s:

“Per Quest’s wellness policy, all food in the classroom must be preapproved. Furthermore, parental permission is also required for students to consume food during class parties. Due to this policy—as in years past—student Valentines cannot contain edible items. Suggestions for nonfood Valentines include pencils, erasers, bubbles, stickers, etc. Please note that such items, including Valentine cards, are in no way required.”

WE ARE GOING TO BE AUTHORS!

We are going to be writing our very own classroom book. It will actually be published and the kids are SO excited! We voted and picked today what kind of book we wanted to do. They chose an ABC book using animals. I showed them a clip of a book to give them an idea and they decided they wanted to do one like it.

Here is a link to the clip if you would like to have an idea of what we will be doing.
We drew letters and here is a list of what they drew. BE CREATIVE! They have all week to decide. By Friday February 10th they need to have these items written down on a piece of paper and turned in so I can look over them so we can get started on Monday.

You can not use all of the same things from the book.

They will need to think of: Screen Shot 2017-02-06 at 3.39.03 PM
