Reminders

ReminderThis is just a reminder that this Friday Aug. 26th is a short day and a free dress down day.  The AM Class schedule will be from: 8:30-10:00,  PM Class schedule is 11:30-1:00. Below are the guidelines for dress down Fridays:

On free dress down days, students are still expected to dress in a manner that positively impacts the learning environment. Clothing must be modest, tasteful, and it must not compromise safety standards for our students. The following standards include:

  • Shorts and skirts need to be consistent with QA Uniform Policy
  • No tank tops
  • No baggy pants
  • No bare or stocking feet
  • No open toe or heeled shoes
  • No clothing which displays obscene, vulgar, lewd, or sexually explicit words, messages or pictures
  • No clothing that exposes bare midriffs, buttocks or undergarments
  • No clothing assumed as gang related
  • If questions arise, the school administration, as the Board of Directors’ designee, has the authority to determine if a student’s dress is in keeping with this policy.

Help neededAlso, if you are willing to help cut items for our students at home, please drop by my classroom before class time and pick them up (this way we can give you instructions on how we would like them cut).

Parents please make sure that you take your child to the bathroom before school starts. I have had several student who need to go to the bathroom several times during class time.  This creates many interruptions.  I would love to keep the interruptions to a minimum.
Water Bottle
In this warm weather, it is a good idea for your child to have a water bottle here in class.
We keep our water bottles in the cubbies, and students are welcome to get a drink ANY time they want, as long as I am not right in the middle of instruction.  Having a water bottle here in class will help eliminate the need for unnecessary trips down to the drinking fountain.

Picture Day/ Important Information

What a wonderful first day of school we had!! Your children are amazing and I feel so lucky to have each one of them in my class this year.  Just a quick reminder that Monday, August 22nd is picture day. I sent home order forms on Friday in case you want to buy pictures.

On Monday, I will be sending home a paper with your child. This paper has your student’s four digit ID number highlighted in the upper left hand corner.  This number will be your code to allow you access to your child’s school account.  This account will be where you can find your child’s report cards as well as missing grades.  Please take a few minutes and make sure that all the information on your child’s account is up to date and current.  I have noticed that I do not have email addresses for several students. Please make sure I have your email address and phone number.
I am still in need of volunteers for class parties and working in the classroom.  If you are willing to help, please sign up as soon as possible.

If you have not subscribed to my blog yet, please do this as soon as possible.  This will be the main form of communication.  I will post on my blog upcoming important information as well as post pictures of your students doing fun activities.  If you have any questions about how to subscribe, feel free to email me.

No School Aug. 17 and 18th

Important: For the first two days of school (Aug.17 and Aug.18), we will not be having regularly scheduled class. Instead, will be giving each individual student an extensive test to help us better assess where your child is academically. I use this information to customize each child’s education and to challenge them at their current level in reading and math. As soon as possible, please schedule a time that works best for you to bring your student into our classroom for testing.

Water Bottles

In this warm weather, it is a good idea for your child to have a water bottle here in class.Water Bottle We keep our water bottles in the cubbies, and students are welcome to get a drink ANY time they want, as long as I am not right in the middle of instruction.

Having a water bottle here in class will help eliminate the need for unnecessary trips down to the drinking fountain during this critical time in the school year when we are trying to complete instruction and review for coming end-of-level tests.

Please label the water bottle with your child’s name.  Please be sure that the water bottle is easy for your child to open and close by him/herself.

Thank you!
