Remember that Sunday is Daylight Savings time. Spring forward!

School will not be held on Friday, March 18 due to teacher professional development and the end of term. Also, kindergarten will not be held on Monday, March 21 due to parent teacher conferences—all other grades will be in session.  

Spring break is March 28 through April 1. Enjoy this time with family!

Next week our school will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday by having a school wide daily dress up days.  Each day your child will be able to wear a particular item to celebrate with.  See below for what item they can wear on which days.

 And be sure to stop by the Library to guess how many fish in the dish and tell us your favorite Dr. Seuss book too!

Next week (Feb. 29th- Mar. 4th) we will be having a school-wide reading competition for the most minutes read during the week of Dr. Seuss.  The student with the most minutes read will win a new bike!  You are welcome to count all minutes your child reads to you as well as all the minutes you read to your child.  I am attaching the reading log and the permission slip letter for your child to participate.  Happy Reading!

This month for our STEM project we built robots.  Here are some pictures from our project:

On Wednesday February 17, our class will be building their robots for our STEM activity.  I would really appreciate any help I can get from parents.  I need parents to help the children glue and assemble their robots.  We will be doing this activity at 9:45 for the morning class and 1:45 for the afternoon class.  Please email me and let me know if you would be willing to come in for 30 minutes and help us out with this activity.   

This is just a reminder of a few upcoming events:

* Scholastic book orders are due this Thursday (Jan. 28th).  Please consider buying books this month, we will get lots of new books for our classroom.

* Friday will be a short day schedule and a dollar dress down day.  

* All homework and reading calendars will be due next Monday (Feb. 1st)

Please read with your child every night.  There are several students who are still not bringing back their baggy books every week. Your child has several books that need to be read in order for your child to be ready for first grade.  Please read, read, read!

We are also in desperate need of prizes.  If you are willing to donate some prizes that would be wonderful.  Thanks!!

On March 21st, Quest will be having a Gala.  They are asking that each grade provide a basket to be auctioned off for this event.  As a Kindergarten team, we have chosen the theme of “Night Out”.  We are asking for donations of items to go in the basket. This can be DVDs, Movie tickets, popcorn, candy, blankets, etc.  Be creative.  All the proceeds of the basket will go to the school.  Let me know if you have any questions.  We sincerely appreciate all your support.

Report cards are being sent home today, so watch for them.
