Personality Portraits

Picture dayBell Photography will be here as we return from Spring Break on Monday, April 10th for Spring Personality Portraits. If you are interested in purchasing pictures you don’t have to do anything right now. Picture packages will be sent home later for you to review before you buy. But if you do not want to purchase pictures, please sign the flyer that came home with your student this week and return it. By signing the flyer your student will not have their picture taken and the picture packet will not be sent home. This is a free dress down day for these personality pictures.
Thank you!

Behavior

We wanted to reach out to you as parents to have a conversation with your students about behavior expectations.  The past few weeks the students have severely struggled with interrupting, blurting out during instructional time, and there are a large handful of students that are extremely disrespectful and distracting to the class with their behavior, and getting up out of their seats without permission.  Now, please be aware, we are speaking to a large handful of students (not every student), but all students would benefit from a discussion about appropriate behavior.

We have had recent lessons on our mouths being volcanos, being interrupting chickens, and non-stop talkers and how when we behave like those, the whole class suffers.  We have also implemented a Blurt Chart.  This is similar to a stop light system where the students will earn a trip to the prize box weekly when their stop light colors are still intact.  The students will also have the ability to earn lunch with us in the classroom every two weeks for keeping their stop lights in tact. Please ask your students about the Blurt Chart and the rewards they can earn.  Ask your students to discuss the books we have been reading in class.

There have been 4-6 students that sadly have missed out on some really fun, engaging learning activities because they chose to not follow the classroom expectations.  Two of these students are removed from our room for being disruptive to the rest of the class on an almost daily basis.  If you could also explain to your students that behavior in the STEM Lab and with substitutes should be even better than is expected by both Mrs. Hill & Mrs. Nelson. Unfortunately, today Mrs. Jones, our STEM Lab teacher came and spoke with me after class and explained how sad the behavior was during her lesson this morning.  We cannot stress enough the importance of learning by following behavior expectations.

Thank you in advance for speaking with your students and supporting your students to continue to grow into the successful students we know they are.

If you have any questions or concerns about your specific student, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email.

Everyone Needs A Badge

Dear Parents and Students,
Our lunch staff is implementing a new program beginning tomorrow where every student will need to have a current badge with a special, unique barcode label on the back.
We have done an inventory of students that have and do not have their badges. If your student’s name is listed under “No Badge”, you will need to purchase a replacement badge for $5 with the office first thing Monday morning and have a new badge printed so that we can attach the new barcode label before lunch.
Thank you in advance for taking care of this promptly Monday morning.
We appreciate your assistance,
Mrs. Nelson & Mrs. Hill
