We have found out last minute that we received tickets to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. The last day to possibly go is next Friday, May 2nd. So, we decided to do it! We will be taking the Front Runner again. Therefore, please take your child to the Roy Front Runner Station on Friday, May 2nd no later than 8:15 a.m. We will be gone for the entire school day, so you will need to pick them up at the Roy Front Runner Station at 3:00 p.m. Remember the students will need to be dressed in uniform with a name badge. Please send a school lunch, water bottle and light jacket with your child in their backpacks. Look for the permission slip that I sent home with the students today. We are still tutoring after school in our 3rd grade classrooms from 3:00-3:30. If you are interested in having your child stay after, they are more than welcome to work on homework, math, etc…
***Attention Parents!!!!*** Our class is working on a play called Grammarosaurus! We are super excited to perform it for the parents on Tuesday, May 27th at 2:00 in the Q1 gym. Please come and watch our performance.
Also, the students all know their parts now, and we are starting to collect costumes for the play. The play takes place in Scotland, so the students need to be looking for plaid (red, white and blue) shorts, skirts for girls, hats, scarves, etc… Each student is responsible for finding their own costumes. Remember Parents: No more Words Their Way Spelling Units for the rest of the year!!!! Students will still be expected to complete the math or reading assignments on the blog for homework. Things will be somewhat different for the rest of the year for homework.
End Of Level Writing SAGE tests are this week: Monday (4/21 and 4/23) Please make sure your child gets lots of rest the night before and a good breakfast the day of the test.
Dear Parents, I have been keeping all of the art projects that we have made throughout the year. I make an art book that they take home on the last day of school. I am looking for 1 or 2 parents that would like to volunteer to help me put them together during the month of May. It is not a small project, but you can come in whenever you’d like and put them together on your own time. They are really beautiful when they are completed! Please remember that each student must have 20 pictures and a song saved to their flashdrives. Also, each student needs to bring their backpack with a light jacket, lunch, and a water bottle inside. For the Apple Store field trip on April 9, 2014, students need to start saving family pictures (20 pictures) to their flash drive, along with a song of their choice to play in the background. Start thinking about what pictures you want on your iMovie. The week of Spring Break will be the week that the students have to get them all saved on their flash drives and returned to school. I need everything saved on flash drives and returned to school on Monday, April 7th. Thanks so much!
ATTENTION PARENTS: Our class is going to the Apple Store at Farmington Station on Wednesday, April 9th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Every student will be creating an iMovie on this day. In preparation for the field trip, every student will need to have pictures and a song saved to their flash drive. Over Spring Break, every student will be responsible for collecting these pictures and song for their homework assignment. I will need multiple parent volunteers at the Apple Store to help us during this field trip!!!!
As for transportation, we will be taking the Front Runner. Parents will need to drop their student off at the Roy Front Runner stop at 8:00 a.m. (We will treat this day just like regular school hours.). Due to the fact that our field trip is only one hour, we are going to get back onto the Front Runner in Farmington after the Apple Store field trip and ride it into Downtown Salt Lake. We will then go the the Planetarium and observe all of the exhibits they have. We will have lunch in Salt Lake at the Gateway. Students will need to bring their backpacks with them all day. They need to pack their lunch, a light jacket and their flash drive (with all the pictures and songs on there). We will get back on the Front Runner in Salt Lake and ride back to the Roy station. We will get there no later than 3:00 p.m. Please be there no later than 3:00 p.m. to pick up your students. If you have other students at Quest, please arrange for them to get another ride or pick them up after you get your child from the Front Runner station in Roy. I need as many parent volunteers as possible to help me keep the students together, organized, and safe on this field trip. Please let me know if you can help us on April 9th.
