Today was AWESOME! The kids were absolutely amazing and they were everything I knew they could be. After lunch things got a little crazy but I will take it! We will continue to work on what is expected and how it should look and sound. Today I recorded them while they were in STEM lab and we talked about what we saw and heard. They all agreed that we need to work on our listening skills and that we need to be aware of out body language and how we are fidgeting.
Our lining up and walking in the hall was EXCEPTIONAL!
I introduced STEM roles and explained that we will do a STEM project a month where everyone will have a role. That role will change with each new activity. We also talked about the importance of working together to improve our creations instead of “being the best.” It should be a fun year of interesting and exciting projects. Teamwork is ALWAYS the hardest part of STEM activities. 🙂
This was our first “Fun Friday/Study Hall” and for those who had missing work 20/24 it was not “FUN”. I think the next time we have “Fun Friday” there will be less kids with missing work. 😉 A lot of kids said that they were not aware that they were supposed to do spelling homework this week but I specifically posted it on my blog so everyone would be aware. Hopefully next week there won’t be any confusion. Some of the students were able to finish their missing assignments during “Study Hall” but others were not. If they finished, I gave them credit for the assignment, if they didn’t it will be a zero in the grade book.
I am also going to try to do as much online homework as possible for math because it makes it so much easier to submit and keep track of on both my and the students’ part. Hopefully that will start next week as well. It just depends if the frontrowed.com has the corresponding assignments that I need them to do. We have begun prime factorization and exponents which seems to be a little bit of a challenge. If your child still has not mastered their multiplication facts, please stress the importance of mastering that this year, it will benefit them immensely as we move forward in math.
Have a bea”UTE”ful weekend and I will see everyone on Monday. Go UTES!
