Fundraiser Information:
There’s just one more week for our Fundraiser! The top-selling grade will get a night at The Rush Funplex—families of these students will be invited as well! Also, all classes that meet their goal (each student selling an average of $100 of merchandise), will win a pizza party. 

Here’s a look at the upcoming week….

Tuesday:
  • Coding 11:00
Wednesday:
  • Reading tutoring 3:00 – 3:25
Thursday:
  • Library 11:30
  • STEM 1:30
  • Math tutoring 3:00 – 3:30
Friday: 
  • Early Dismissal 1:00 
Homework:
Students should read at least 100 minutes per week and get 3 green lights on Reflex unless they already have 100% fluency. The homework form must be completed and signed by both the student and a parent/guardian.

Language Arts:
This week our class will be focusing on our experiences with nature. We can experience nature almost anywhere, even in a big city.

Social Studies:
Week 2: English Settlements
Students will explain the reasons for colonization and read about the Lost Colony of Roanoke.

This week our class will be focusing on people who have achieved great things through trial and error. Learning from our mistakes isn’t always easy, but sometimes it can be an adventure!

What a fabulous first week! We went over many procedures and I was able to get to know my new students a little bit. I love my class already! A few things to think about…

  • Homework for students next week will consist of reading 100 minutes and getting three green lights on Reflex unless they already have 100%. Students should already be thinking about the 200+ page chapter book they would like to read for their quarterly book report. 
  • Picture day will be Thursday, August 9th. I will send the students home with the picture order form on Monday. This is the picture that will be used for name badges and the school yearbook.
  • Forms for Lego League tryouts are due by September 6th at 3:00pm.

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful summer and are ready to begin an exciting new school year! Back to School Night will be held on August 16th from 5:30 – 7:30pm.  Feel free to bring your classroom supplies at that time. I have included the supply list in this post and it can also be found above under the Parent Info tab. Please note, the only supplies allowed are those listed; anything else will be sent home. Our first week of school will be August 19 – 23.  These will all be short days. Short days will now be dismissed at 1 pm. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

Student Supplies:
  • 1 – backpack

  • 4 – wide ruled spiral notebooks

  • 2 – two pocket folders, any color

  • 1 – standard size plastic pencil box (example)

  • 1 – set of earbuds (must fit into pencil box)

  • 1 – small piece of cloth to use with dry erase markers

  • 1 – pair of kids scissors

  • 1 – box 24 count Crayola crayons

  • 1 – red pen

  • 1 – box 12 count twistable colored pencils (optional)

Classroom Supplies:

  • 1 – pack of 24 count #2 pencils, sharpened (no mechanical)

  • 2 – pink erasers

  • 1 – pack pencil eraser tops

  • 6 – fine point black dry erase markers (EXPO brand only)

  • 4 – thick point black dry erase markers (EXPO brand only)

  • 4 – glue sticks

  • 1 – package of white 3×5 index cards
