Week 9/17 – 9/21

Here is a look at the upcoming week:

Tuesday: STEM 8:30 – 9:30

Wednesday: Library 9:00 – 9:30 & NOVA 2:30m

Friday: Early out – 1:30pm

Reading Homework: Read 100 minutes per week. Students should have chosen a book with at least 200 pages for the end-of-quarter book report. We will complete the book report project in class.

Science: This week we will continue our unit on magnetism.

ELA: This week our class will be focusing on our experiences with nature. We can experience nature almost anywhere, even in a big city.

Monday 9/3: Fundraiser order forms due

Tuesday 9/4: STEM 8:30 – 9:30

Wednesday 9/5: Library 9:00 – 9:30 & NOVA 2:30m (a permission form was sent home with each student that allows them to participate)

Friday 9/7: Early out – 1:30pm

ELA: This week our class will be focusing on people who have achieved great things through trial and error. Learning from our mistakes isn’t always easy, but sometimes it can be an adventure!

We will discuss the businesses in a community, such as banks, and how they may serve the needs of the people. The following link includes stories, skills, vocabulary, and spelling for this week.

Important Reminders

Parents & Students: 

  • It is very important that every student have a set of headphones/earbuds to be left at school at all times. We use them frequently.

First Week of 5th Grade

What a fabulous first week! I love getting to know my students! Thank you, parents, for sharing your “parent homework” letters with me. Here’s a look at the upcoming week….

Homework:

  • Read 100 minutes per week
  • Beginning Tuesday, September 4th, students will be assigned a current event. Assigned weeks and more information for this can be found under the homework tab above.  

Tuesday:

  • Assembly 9:00 – 10:00

Wednesday:

  • Picture Day (school uniforms must be worn)
  • Library 9:00 – 9:30

Friday: 

  • Half day
  • $1 dress down day
