Happy Halloween! The end of October is here and I am wondering where the time has gone. Below is what we will be working on this week. MATH – This week we will be working on our multiplication facts 3, 4, and 6. Below is the family letter from our math work book the explains what we are doing in class. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students with multiplication. You are not required to do the activity, it is just a suggestion if you would like your child to practice at home. While we work on our multiplication facts in class, it is so important that students practice their facts at home. 3rd graders are required to pass of their 0-10 facts before they move onto 4th grade.
ELA – This week we are working on Unit 2 Week 4 in our Wonders book. Below is an outline of what we will be learning.

Parent Teacher Conferences – PTCs are this Tuesday and Wednesday. Conferences will be a little different this year as they will be all be held over Zoom. I will email a Zoom link on Tuesday. (Please note that when you join the Zoom meeting you will be placed into a meeting room until I allow you to enter.) I have posted a sign up on BLOOMZ, so please make sure you sign up. Our Bloomz class code is: YNDJ8X. PTCs are a great way to know where your child is at and how they are doing in class. If you do not sign up I will assign you a slot and email you with the date and time. Apple Witches – We will be dressing our apple witches this week. Please send in the finished dress, hat, and cut out gloves on Monday.

ELA – We will be working on Unit 2 Lesson 3 which is all about voting. We will be taking about the voting process and then students will have the chance to vote on various items. We will not be talking politics or sharing political views. We will just be talking about why and how we vote. Below is an outline of what we will be learning this week.

Cookie Dough and Jerky Fundraiser! – The last day of our school fundraiser is quickly approaching. This fundraiser helps our school in so many ways and we need all the support we can get. All money is due October 7th and cookie dough and jerky pick up will be on October 26th.

APPLE WITCHES – A few weeks ago our class carved apples into witch faces. These witch faces are now drying and we will be putting the finishing touches on them the week of the 19th. In order to turn our apple faces into witches we will need some help from home. I will be sending home a letter and dress pattern explaining what needs to be done. This is a very simple dress pattern so please do not stress. I am also looking for any grown up that can help sew our witch dresses if needed. Please read through the letter on Monday when it comes home and then, if you have any questions, or concerns, feel free to contact me.
MATH – We are in the middle of subtracting with 3 digit numbers. We will be practicing and playing subtraction games. We will finish up with subtraction on Wednesday and then review rounding, addition and subtraction on Thursday and Friday.
ELA – We are in Unit 2 Week 2 this week. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. We have been learning all about the theme of a story.
