Treehouse Museum Field Trip

Friday is the big day for our Treehouse Museum field trip!

$5.00 donations are welcome to help with our field trip expenses, including museum admission and the cost of bus transportation. Donations may be paid in the Q1 office or online (select “Other” and enter Mrs. Brown field trip). Any extra funds will be used for our Kindergarten field day in May.

Here are a few reminders to help your student have a successful, enjoyable day:

1- Students wear their uniforms. This Friday is a dollar dress-down day, however, students must wear uniforms on the field trip.
2- Arrive on time.  Buses will depart at 8:45am.
3- Please have a good filling breakfast!
4- Leave student backpacks and water bottles at home. 5- We will eat lunch as soon as we return from the field trip. I have had parent chaperones ask if they can stay at the museum longer and/or take their student to lunch after the museum. This is fine as long as you sign the checkout form with Mrs. Brown before we leave the museum.
6- Parent Chaperones: If you are driving, we expect to arrive at the museum at 9:15am and depart the museum at 11:30am. Again, if you choose, you may take your child home with you from the museum (you may also choose to remain at the museum with your child and continue exploring/playing for the rest of the day). Please see Mrs. Brown before you leave to sign the checkout form.

Rock your socks: It's World Down Syndrome Day | WPDE

We are excited to join others across the world as we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing mismatched socks on Tuesday, March 21st.  We invite you to watch this fun video of one of our Quest Families sharing more information about this special day.

What we are learning

We are now beginning Unit 9 in Language Arts. Below are the sight words, oral vocabulary words, letters, and sounds we will be mastering during the next 3 weeks.  In addition, we continue to read decodable books and passages. You can listen to us read on SeeSaw and encourage us to read the passages we bring home each week. We are also writing sentences about the texts we read.

As a class in math, we will be exploring shapes; flat shapes (2D) and solid shapes(3D). We will be naming shapes, comparing shapes, using positional terms, and building with shapes. Individually, the students are working to master their current selected math standard. Ask them about their Nearpod lessons and encourage them to try the challenge activity when they master the math standard.

In science and STEM, we will be exploring plants and the things they need to survive. We will grow and care for our own plant. Watch for our plants to come home the Thursday before spring break.
