Hello, fantastic kindergarten families!
I have a lot of information to pass along!
1. Middle-of-the-year assessments will begin TOMORROW and continue all week!! Students will be taking middle-of-the-year assessments this week. A few things that will help the students during this week: a long, good night’s sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and an “I can do it” attitude– encourage them to do their best! We really appreciate your help with this! It makes a big difference to your student when they are well-rested and not hungry for testing. We want every student to have the best shot possible at performing well on all mid-year assessments
2. Term 2 grades and citizenship scores have been updated and are available in your child’s Aspire account you set up. You can view the overall subject grade under “Unofficial Report Card”. For detailed scores by individual standards go to “Complete Progress Report”.
3. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 1, and Thursday, February 2. Please note: These will be early out days and there will be no school on Friday (February 3). Your child has a special presentation to share with you. If you haven’t already, sign up for parent-teacher conferences here, please pick a time you and your child can attend. You must bring your kindergartener with you, they will be presenting during the conference!
4. Every year I throw myself a birthday party during the school day on my birthday, January 31st. I don’t know why I do it, it is exhausting. Actually, I do know why I do it, all my students have loved it, and it has become a tradition that has brought some fun into the classroom during the long month of January. I will be serving mini Dr. Pepper cupcakes and Dr. Pepper soda (both caffeine-free, of course) which will be used in our addition/subtraction and quantity discrimination math lessons. I will provide everything for this fun day.
5. We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in class on February 14th. We will have a Valentine exchange for the students. It is very important that you just write who the Valentine is FROM on the Valentines your child is handing out, do not write classmates’ names in the “to” or “for” space (this will help the kids distribute their Valentines much faster). We have 23 kindergarteners in our class. You do not need to send in a box or a bag, the kids will be making bags as an art project to collect the Valentines from their classmates. We will be having a treat as well, you can sign up to donate an item for our party here. Please have all donated items to our classroom on Friday, February 10 so that we can get the treats ready, thank you!
6. Sign the birthday party and the Valentine’s Day party food permission form here.
7. We will be starting unit 6 in Wonders:
Have a great week!
