Math –This week we will be working on equivalent fractions. Below is the family letter from our math work book the explains what we are doing in class. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students with fractions. You are not required to do the activity, it is just a suggestion if you would like your child to practice at home. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE ARE DONE WITH MULTIPLICATION. MANY STUDENTS ARE STILL WORKING ON MEMORIZING THEIR FACTSWhile we work on our multiplication facts in class, it is so important that students practice their facts at home. 3rd graders are required to pass of their 0-10 facts before they move onto 4th grade!

I loved meeting with everyone for Parent Teacher Conferences. I love that I get to spend everyday with your wonderful children. Thank you! Below is what we have going on for the week.

Valentine’s Day Party – On Friday, February 12th, we will be having a Valentine’s Day party. We will have the opportunity to pass out and receive Valentines, however, we need permission to do this. (Dang Covid!). Please click here for the form. Your child can bring a box or bag to collect their Valentines, or I will have one they can use. Just to clarify on passing out Valentine cards. Your child’s name can be on them as who they are from, but please do not address them to the rest of the students. This is very time-consuming when passing them out. Also, please remember that the Valentine’s should not contain food. We have 27 students in our class.

Where has the month on January gone? This month has been packed with Dibels reading tests, i-Ready diagnostics and just getting back into the swing of things since Christmas break. Please see below of all the things we have happening this week and in the weeks to come!

December 14-18

It’s the last week of school before Christmas break and we can make it. I have noticed that our class has become very chatty over the last few days, so I will be changing things up this week. Please see below for more details of what we will be working on.

We are still working on earning our Grinch hearts. Each student will have the chance to earn three hearts for our Grinch Party. One for kindness, one for respect, and one for responsibility. I will be looking for students going above and beyond the normal for them to earn their hearts. Our Grinch party will be on Friday, the 18th.

ELA – We will not be doing a Wonders Unit this week. Instead, we will be working on mad libs, winter writing prompts, and we will be learning about different holiday traditions and cultures from around the world.

MATH – We started working on Lesson 10, Understanding Division, and we will finish that lesson up by Tuesday. Below is our Family Letter of what we are working on. For the rest of the week we will be reviewing our multiplication by doing a variety of activities.
