Week of December 7

Hello! We have a lot going on in the next two weeks. The big ones are Middle of Year Reading and Math testing that will start on Monday. I can’t give you a specific day because they test by grades and I don’t know how fast they can get through the other grades before they come to us. It is so important that your child is here next week as much as possible! I would like them to get plenty of practice and review before their testing! Some helpful tips to help your child prepare are to make sure they get good sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast so that they feel ready for the day. Also, please make sure that you are still reading 20 minutes OUT LOUD with your child every night. This is going to be the best practice! I am so excited for them to show how much they have grown!

Important Dates:

  • Sometime this week Middle of Year testing for Reading and Math will start.
  • Friday, Dec. 17th from 8:45-10:30 – 3rd Grade Grinch Party

APPLE WITCHES – A huge thank you to our parents who came and helped the 3rd graders carve their apple witch faces. The students have loved seeing their apples turn brown and start to decay. Thank you! In order to do the rest of this project, I am going to need some help from you. We will be dressing our witches later in the month and the witches will need clothing. I will be sending home a letter and a pattern on how to create the dress for your child’s apple witch. This letter will come home this week. I have included pictures of a completed apple witch to give you an idea of what the apple witches will look like when finished.
