Every Christmas, the third grade hosts a Grinch party rewarding all the students who were able to earn hearts for being respectful, responsible, and kind. We will be doing Grinch activities this week and next week culminating in the Grinch Party. At the party we will watch the cartoon version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” eat green popcorn, and make Grinch pills (sixlets). The party will be on Thursday December 18th.
Please submit this form so that we know what your student can have: Grinch Party Food Permission Slip
Tomorrow is a dollar dress down day and a short day! It is also the beginning of Thanksgiving break. I just wanted all my students to know how thankful I am for them. They bring me so much joy and happiness. I love my job because I get to be with them every day. I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving!!!!
Love,
Ms. Young
Kaylee is the first one in our class to finish Multiplication Madness!!! She worked so hard and it really paid off! Please practice multiplication facts 0-12 at home so that we can all finish before our big Sundae Bash!!!
Just a friendly reminder of our steps! Quite a few students are still struggling with word problems.
Please be doing all four steps when completing word problems!!
1. Understand
- Go through and underline or circle numbers and important words*
2. Plan
- Decide what strategy you are going to use to solve the problem.
- Example: number line, diagram, array, counters, etc.
3. Solve
- It is important that you take your time in this step to do it right the first time.
4. Check your work
- This step is very important. This is where you try to find computation mistakes.
Addition | Subtraction | Multiplication | Division |
Sum | Difference | Product | Quotient |
More | Less than | Times as many | Divide |
In all | Left | Twice | Half |
Total | Fewer than | In each | Into equal groups |
I had to put on passwords because one student was going on other accounts and changing things. Everyone’s password is the first two letters of their first name and the first two letters of their last name. So mine would be niyo. I know that these passwords would be easy to figure out for others, but I am hoping students will think again about getting on an account that does not belong to them.
Tomorrow is the last day to bring in anything you have collected for the gift basket!!
Thanks,
Ms. Young
