Talent Show

This event will be held on the last day of school. Kindergarten through 2nd Grade will perform at 8:45am and 3rd Grade through 5th Grade will perform at 9:45am. There are limited spots per grade level, so sign up quickly. Students will be selected on a first come, first served basis. An email will be sent out if your child has been selected to participate in the talent show.

Reminders:
– SAGE Testing went well last week!  I was so proud of students and how hard they worked to do their very best on each test! 
– We have a week off from testing and then will take the SAGE Math Test NEXT WEEK.  You can help your child do their very best by making sure they get a good night’s rest, eat a nutritious breakfast, and arrive to school on time on SAGE testing days.  This is a great opportunity for students to celebrate all they have learned this year!  
– I am doing math tutoring after school on Mondays and Wednesdays.  If you would like your child to attend tutoring, please let me know so that I can get them on my schedule.  
– We are practicing our class play in earnest.  Students are so excited!  We will be doing all preparations in class, but I’m asking that you help your student come up with a SIMPLE costume for their part.  If you have questions about this, please let me know.  Students’ costumes need to be brought to school no later than Thursday, May 17th.  

This Week in Math:
We will be learning about EQUATIONS in math this week  We will also be reviewing all that we’ve learned in math this year in preparation for taking the Math SAGE Test next week.  

This Week in Language Arts:
This week’s Language Arts will be back to our regular Wonders schedule.  We will be focusing on Unit 6 Week 2:

Homework:

Your most important homework is to read for 20 minutes every night.  You can print the reading calendar below to keep track of your reading.  I also gave each student a reading calendar last week.  Just color in one flower each night you read.  Bring your calendar with every flower colored in the last week of school to get a special prize!
May Reading LogFor math homework this week, you should still be practicing your multiplication facts!  It is so important to continue to practice so that you don’t forget these facts.  Being able to recall your multiplication facts quickly and correctly will make other math concepts so much easier for you!

Field Trip Reminders

Here are a few reminders for our Field Trip to the Aquarium on TUESDAY:

– All students will need to meet at the Roy Front Runner Station no later than 8:15 on Tuesday morning. We will then board the train and ride to Draper. A bus will meet us there and shuttle us to the Aquarium.

– At the Aquarium we are scheduled for a half-day learning adventure and then we will have a short time to explore and eat lunch.

– We will then shuttle to the station and board the Front Runner to return home. We will arrive back at the Roy Station at 4:16. Please plan to pick up your child then.

We will be finishing up measuring length to the nearest quarter inch on Monday and taking a test on this concept.  For the rest of the week, we will be focusing on measuring capacity, weight, and mass. 

This Week in Language Arts:
This week’s Language Arts will be celebrating all that we’ve learned this year by taking both the SAGE Writing and SAGE ELA tests.  Please help your child be prepared to do their very best on these tests by making sure they get a good night’s rest, eat a nutritious breakfast, and arrive to school on time each day this week.  

Homework:
Your most important homework is to read for 20 minutes every night.  You can print the reading calendar below to keep track of your reading.  I also gave each student a reading calendar earlier this month.  Just color in one cloud each night you read.  Bring your calendar with every cloud colored in ON TUESDAY for a special prize.

Field Trip Volunteers

Dear Parents,

If you are planning on join us for our last field trip, here are a few friendly reminders:

  • Due to the nature of this field trip, only PARENTS will be allowed to join us.  Please make other arrangements for ALL other siblings.  
  • Parents planning on joining us for the field trip need to pay $15 to the office NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, MAY 1st.  
  • If more than one parent is planning on coming, they will EACH need to pay the $15.

We will be finishing elapsed time Monday and Tuesday this week.  We will take our time assessment on Tuesday.  Then we will beginning a unit on measurement.  We will also begin reviewing all math concepts from this year to prepare students for the SAGE Math test.  

This Week in Language Arts:
We will be taking a break from our regular WONDERS schedule in Language Arts this week.  We are reviewing comprehension strategies and other ELA concepts to prepare for the ELA SAGE test next week.  We will also be writing quite a bit every day.

Aquarium Field Trip
