Week 12/4 – 12/8

Here is a look at what’s happening in our class next week…

Library: Books that have been checked out are due back every Monday morning. 

Homework: Reading comprehension and chapter summaries on Google Classroom.  Reading 25 minutes daily Mon. – Thurs. Homework is due Thursday night, 12/8.

STEM: We planted milkweed, chia, and cumin seeds today in the egg cartons. Some of the seeds were planted in soil, and some were planted using a combination of soil and sand.  Our investigation is based on which seeds will grow the fastest, and which type of soil is best for plant growth. We will continue to watch our seeds grow. 

Music: Nearly everyone enjoys music, whether by listening to it, singing, or playing an instrument,. There are many benefits to music education, including creative thinking, engagement, improved academic scores, coordination, and emotional development. Our class did an amazing job starting out on the recorders on Monday! 

Math: We will continue to work on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, as well as solving word problems involving the addition and subtraction of fractions. Practice at home with Front Row, Prodigy, or Reflex. As always, math tutoring is available on Thursday, after school, from 3:00p.m. – 3:30p.m..

Science: We will continue our unit on electricity and test on Friday.

Polar Express Pajama Party

On Friday, December 15 , we will be having a Polar Express Pajama Party!!

We are going to be snuggled up in our pajamas watching the movie, drinking cocoa, and eating cookies. Please remember:
* no slippers- wear regular shoes
* choose pajamas
 that are dress code appropriate and appropriate for the weather (we will still be going outside for recess)
* bring a pillow or 
stuffed animal to snuggle with, but it must fit easily in your backpack!

If you would like to donate supplies for the party, we will need Lofthouse (or similar) frosted sugar cookies, marshmallows, spray can whip cream,  and candy canes. Please let me know what you will be donating, (you can mark it on the permission slip) and then send it in by Thursday, Dec. 14 so I know we have everything for the day of the party. Thanks! Please fill out the permission slip form below, so that your child can join the fun.Thanks!
